Asmodee have announced plans to found Asmodee Entertainment, a multimedia venture, which will see their IP's being adapted into movies, TV shows and comic books.
The continued success of Asmodee was posted in the Eurazeo 2017 annual results, earlier this month. Eurazeo are the private equity firm, which owns The Asmodee Group. A full PDF of the annual results can be found here
The report states that Asmodee recorded 17% revenue growth in 2017, mostly thanks to Europe and a remodel of distribution in the U.S., which allowed for growth in Q4, something we saw with the significant number of purchases Asmodee made.
Now that Asmodee has acquired Lookout Games, Mayfair Games, and Rebel, among others, they own many more IP's than before, meaning they have plenty to work from in their multimedia venture.
In a recent press release, Asmodee announced that they will be develop feature films, TV series, comics and graphic novels through strategic partnerships and licensing deals.
Asmodee plan to use existing creative talent within their company to tell stories in different ways. They will also be working with publishing studios that they have worked with before to enter into new avenues.
Stéphane Carville, CEO of Asmodee Group commented:
Andy Jones, who has been in the games industry for 30 years and former head of global new business at Games Workshop, has been appointed head of Asmodee Entertainment.
The role of senior vice president of business development has been awarded to Darren Kyman, who has previously worked producing properties at companies such as Sony, Paramount and 20th Century Fox.
Hopefully this will lead to many exciting new media projects for the gaming community. For more information, visit Asmodee's website.
