Z-Man Games has announced a game called Lowlands, which is about farm-building on the coast of the North Sea. It is planned to be an area control game, which plays 2 – 4 players in 50 – 100 minutes.
In the lowlands, you must work hard to fend for your community, in the storms and floods. Build dikes to prevent the water level from rising, tend to flocks of sheep and maintain the farm.
In this game, players must spend resource cards to turn yards into pastures for sheep, gaining yourself victory points. Building the dike will ensure all players are protected from the constantly rising tide, but you also get victory points for chipping in.
If the dike is not big enough, the tide will flood the farms, which will add a damage token to your land. This will lose your victory points and cost you dearly to fix.
There are different farmers from which you can choose to work your land. Assign the various farmers to their strongest jobs, and turn two sheep and a small pasture into a bustling farm.
You can also add a multitude of buildings to your farm in exchange for victory points and for bonuses to the growth of your farm. Feeding Troughs will increase your flock, Lake Cabins will make your property more valuable,
Lowlands will be available for $69.99 on release. For more information, check out the games product page
