Eggertspiele has announced the Great Western Trail: Rails to the North expansion pack.
Alexander Pfister has returned to design the first expansion to the popular 2-4 player game, Great Western Trail. Released in 2016, the base game won awards such as the International Gamers Award, Jogo do Ano (Portugal) and Gouden Ludo (Belgium).
The game is set in 19th Century America. Players are tasked with herding cows from Texas to Kansas City, where they are shipped off on trains, in exchange for money and victory points.
Keep the herd in good shape and make use of buildings on the trail to earn more money. Spend that money on cowboys, craftsmen and engineers, and you can ship off better cows for more victory points
Players can now use the the new railway system to help grow the cow herding business. This opens up the map to deliver herds to the northeast United States. This will add locations such as Chicago, New York City and Detroit.
The expansion will also add new station master tiles, private buildings, and an expanded player board. Players will be able to create branchlets, to help form towns. These additions to the game will also increase the difficult of the game when combined with the expansion.
Great Western Trail: Rails to the North is due out on the 13th June at Origins Game Fair. It will also be available at select retailers after that. You will be able to pre-order the game soon at the Eggertspiele website
