Originality can sometimes feel sparse in the boardgame business, and while Agents of Mayhem: Pride of Babylon is based on a video game (itself a spin-off of the Saints Row series of video games) it also looks like it'll be an incredibly unique game.
Academy Games have just launched the Agents of Mayhem: Pride of Babylon campaign on Kickstarter. This is planned to be a team vs. team skirmish game for 2-4 players. One team takes on the villainous legion, and the other will play as a group of anti-heroes, the agents of Mayhem, who are humanities only hope against Legion.
Okay so that doesn't sound particularly unique, but coupled with the anti-heroic, asshole heroes and the 3D destructible modular landscape, and this game becomes much more full of life than other skirmish games we've seen before.
There are just three backer tiers: Fortune's Big Score ($85), Hardtack's Headshot ($90), and Hollwood's Sweet Deal ($115). The first two are include the game and expansion but one contains an early-bird discount. Hollywood's Sweet Deal contains the game, expansion and digital copy of the game with DLC.
This may seem like a small amount, but you can also buy add-ons for your backer tiers. These include Johnny Gat character pack ($20), AI decks for solo play ($20), giant building tiles ($50), card sleeves ($10) and the video game with DLCs ($30)
Also included in all the backer tiers are the stretch goal rewards. These range from new characters for the Mayhem team, to new 3D building modules. There are also more miniatures and cards for the Legion army
Academy Games has run five Kickstarters in the past: 1775 - Rebellion, Freedom - The Underground Railroad, Fief - France 1429, Mare Nostrum - Empires and 878 Vikings. All of these were successfully shipped on time.
All of the components are designed and will soon be ready to produce. The game is expected to ship in September this year.
