Calliope Games have announced they are working on a new game called Capital City.
The aim of Capital City is to create bigger city than your opponents. In it, players will be looking to create the best boom town out in the West. Settlers come in, and you need to attract them with the best resources - we've seen it many times before with different themes and play styles.
Capital City is designed by James Ernest, who has held numerous projects in his time, including The Diceland series and more rescently, Pairs. He also founded the board game publisher, Cheapass Games, which later became Lone Shark Games.
Capital City is a quick-play card game, set in the Wild West, but with animals (think Rango). You hire workers coming in from the East to create jobs in your town that'll attract more people.
By playing strategically, and linking specific character cards to certain buildings, you can attract more visitors to your city. The unique part of this game is that members of the same family will boost your city's value as they work together.
The aim is to use your money and invest in infrastructure to gain Victory Points. Each game has four rounds, representing a season of the year. At the end of the year, whoever has the most Victory Points becomes Capital City.
